Introduction

DoggoBrick is a limited edition resin figure series, a 10k NFT collection, and a bridge between the physical and digital art world. We built the DoggoBrick brand to connect the nostalgia we feel towards toys and the complexities of self-expression experienced in today’s reality. We believe that by building a community of fellow art toy enthusiasts and NFT collectors, we can define a new cultural movement similar to movements created by KAWs and Be@rBrick.

The Artist

DoggoBrick, the character was conceived by its creator, nerdboyworks, a professional toy designer. When he was eleven, nerdboyworks collected Hot Wheels and characters from Batman, The Animated Series. Like many young collectors his age, he found joy each time he added to his collection; but, unlike others, he also found joy in taking the toys apart and seeing how he could improve them. In high school, he became obsessed with collecting vintage Star Wars toys and found a talent of restoring them to near-mint conditions. After majoring in product design, he started his first series Working Village, a duck-like character enthusiastic about all things outdoors. He’s created several characters and participated in many exhibitions(listed below in “Our Team”), and, now, looks towards the world of NFTs to bring another character, DoggoBrick, to life.

Part of the motivation behind creating DoggoBrick stems from nerdboyworks desire for his work to reach a wider audience. Being a 1:1 toy designer, nerdboyworks primarily builds his models out of resin instead of vinyl. Heavier than vinyl, resin is often used by designers when they are creating small batch, handcrafted toys. Although vinyl has its merits, nerdboyworks prefers the heavier, stone-like quality of resin because of its weight and its versatility, especially when coloring with paint. He also enjoys building something that’s “one-of-a-kind” and the unique experience and connections a 1:1 designer toy brings a collector. To reach a broader audience, he decided to bring his art to life as an NFT collection.

Journey

DoggoBrick does not want to be restricted by rigid organizational structures; rather, we want our community to serve as the ultimate guide on our journey. Together, we can collaborate to determine DoggoBrick’s future; but, until then, we have several milestones we would like to achieve.

Figure Pass: We’ll be holding a “Figure Pass” event where NFT holders will have an opportunity to win an 11-inch (approximately 28 cm) tall DoggoBrick. Our artist, nerdboyworks prefers to build each model one-at-a-time to ensure that each toy is made completely as he envisioned it. From pre-mint to launch and beyond, we’ll be updating our community of each DoggoBrick that nerdboyworks creates.

Work in progress

Exclusive Airdrops: We will hold exclusive airdrop events for holders.

Meet DoggoBrick in the Multiverse: What’s more, we want to provide each NFT holder with the original 3D files so that you, the holder, can use them across different platforms.

Doggo Basel: We also plan on opening an online gallery to display DoggoBricks in a digital exhibition.

DoggoBrick Grand Tour: We hope to have DoggoBrick displayed in various locations worldwide so community members can meet DoggoBrick IRL.

Merch Drop: We plan to deliver exclusive merch drops for DoggoBrick NFT holders.

How It’s Made

Graph detailing our 3D figure’s size

Each resin figure starts the same way any piece of art begins. It starts with a rough idea and an even rougher sketch; then, nerdboyworks uses software to design the basic shape, texture, and color of the model, which are then 3D printed with resin. Afterwards, nerdyboyworks gets to work preparing each one for coloring in several steps. He first sands every surface to smooth out any imperfections from the 3D print process. He also checks the crevices of each part and uses a variety of specialized tools to make sure they attach perfectly to their corresponding parts. After the surfaces are finished, he applies a light primer prior to coloring. Like a painter, nerdyboyworks mixes and matches different colors until he finds the correct hue for each piece, and he applies the paint with a pressurized spray gun. He also applies paint with a brush when the job calls for coloring small decals or for adding texture.

Our Team

Connected through their love of collecting art figures and other collectibles, the DoggoBrick team is a set of accomplished individuals in their respective fields.
